Infos

In the nineties, Chris Hopkins himself was often the youngest band member on stage. Now, for the first time, he is delighted to present some of the most talented jazz musicians of a new generation – some of whom he discovered while teaching at the Cologne University of Music and all of whom are between 23 and 33 years old. Their brand new album “CHRIS HOPKINS meets the YOUNG LIONS: Live! Vol. 1” will now be released on May 24, 2024.

The Young Lions are:

  • Shooting star Thimo Niesterok (born 1996) with a beautiful, radiant tone, has already been invited to jazz festivals in Japan and South Korea and is without doubt already Germany’s leading swing trumpeter of his generation.
  • Tijn Trommelen (born 1996), up-and-coming guitarist from the Netherlands and Europe’s new charismatic vocal star in the casual Sinatra style with an expressive voice and personal sound.
  • Caris Hermes (born 1991), a busy and versatile double bass graduate of Folkwang University, has just been awarded the WDR Jazz Prize and has been invited to play in productions with the WDR Big Band.
  • Mathieu Clement (born 2001), an incredibly virtuoso multi-instrumentalist on drums and vibraphone, has already performed in renowned venues such as the Philharmonie in his home country of Luxembourg and the Stadtgarten in Cologne.”
