Jazz in Gendringen

On Sunday, August 2nd, Dutch/German alt-pop with jazz-roots band FRÉ will premiere a feature documentary about their latest album “WE RISE When We Lift Each Other Up” and is combining its exclusive screening with an open air live show, their first since the world went into lockdown. The film-premiere and live show are going to take place in the midst of the beautiful nature surrounding the childhood home of singer Frederike’s father, whose early death was the starting point of FRÉ’s latest artistic endeavor.

“WE RISE” is about personal search, loss, family and healing. Following the albums’ two year long creation and almost 16-year-long thought process, FRÉ gives an unadorned and honest view into their creative and personal struggle, including interviews, visual breakdowns and exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. With the help of Fonds Podiumkunsten, the momentarily tougher-than-usual logistics – from finding a space to making sure all health guidelines will be met – can thankfully be realized.

The screening / open air concert / long craved get together will take place on Sunday, August 2nd 2020, starting at 15:00pm, at Rijksmonument ‘Wilbrinkshof’, Munsterweg 3 in Gendringen and is free of charge (donations welcome). By connecting the story and the music in this special place, this Sunday promises to become the most complete and immersive live experience of “WE RISE When We Lift Each Other Up” to date.

Due to current regulations a maximum of 100 people can join the event – reservation is required. A live-stream will be available.
